Coastal area of Dalmatia has Mediterranean climate with hot summers, and such is the climate in Omiš, as well. The summers are dry and hot, while the winters are mild and rainy. Middle temperature in January is around 6°C, while in July it is around or higher than 22°C. Precipitation amount is between 700 and 1500 mm, the most in the coldest part of the year.
The city of Omiš and camping Galeb are on a quite windy area, due to their position on Cetina river mouth, where the river flows into the Adriatic Sea. River Cetina canyon always brings a light breeze offering relieve to the camping guests during hot summer days.
The graph below shows average sea temperature in Dalmatia. Sea temperature in Omiš is similar to that in Split, but it can be a degree lower due to the inflow of colder water from Cetina River. Average sea temperature in preseason (May) is slightly below 20°C and in postseason (October) it can even be higher than 20°C. During high season – between from June until the end of September it is possible to swim in the sea. Thus, if you want peace and long sandy beach just for you, visit camping Galeb and Dalmatia in pre- or postseason.
